The original campus plans for the University of Florida at Gainesville were developed by the firm of Edwards & Walter. Edwards & Walter were contracted to design and layout the campus buildings in 1905. Additional plans were developed by the firm's successor, Edward and Sayward. Prior to the creation of a University Senate in 1932, the faculty body of the University of Florida assembled periodically to discuss and act on matters of general interest to the university.
